Hoglets Nursery
Hoglets Nursery is for 3 and 4 year olds, during term times only (38 weeks a year).
In Hoglets, Nursery and Reception learn alongside each other in a large shared open space. This helps our older children to further develop their personal and social skills as they help and support the younger members of the class. It ensures the younger children are able to settle into their nursery year more quickly as they have excellent role models to learn from. It also ensures a seamless transition from Nursery to Reception for our youngest children, as the children have access to an environment that is well-resourced and suited to a play-based curriculum.
The children learn through play. All our play experiences are planned using the Early Years Foundation Stage and adapted constantly to engage the children and ensure they have meaningful and irresistible educational and play experiences. Learning is carefully sequenced and planned to provide children with the best start to their nursery education. Each term is based around a key learning theme, whilst also taking into account each child’s interests. Children’s learning is documented on Tapestry and also within the children’s learning book. Each child also has a PLOD (Possible Line of Development Plan) where their interests are recorded and targets are made in relation to this and the Early Years Framework.

Our Offer
The children have opportunities to develop in all areas through play and exploration at our nursery.
We have a large, open classroom which includes a puppet theatre, dolls house and role-play kitchen. The children have access to puzzles, games, loose parts and creative materials to enable them to develop their critical thinking skills whilst they build, construct and create. These all being fantastic tools to support children with their development.
We have a spacious cooking area as part of our classroom which means that we can regularly bake delicious treats. We also run a cookery club which nursery children can sign-up for.
Our regularly changing tuff trays promote and encourage a wide range of skills and interests as our children can use their senses to create and develop.
The children also enjoy a wonderful outdoor area including a large wooden sandpit, mud kitchen, music wall, painting wall, ride on toys and a playhouse. We have a huge range of indoor and outdoor equipment to enhance the children’s love of learning within a creative and caring environment.
On a Monday and Tuesday, we run a general after school club and on a Thursday we run a cookery club. All of these are on until 4pm and children within Hoglets Nursery are welcome to attend, this being free of charge.
As a school, we have a large plantation which we use at break and lunch times and to complete outdoor learning activities. The nursery children have access to a large, wooden structure with a slide and we love lighting the bonfire and having toasted marshmallows and hot chocolate!
